StonkFun vs Pump.fun: fees, quote assets and graduation
Updated 2026-09-19
The two platforms share a shape: 1 billion supply, a launch curve, automatic migration to a liquidity pool at a threshold. They differ in four places: what the token is priced in, how trading fees are split, whether there is a transfer fee, and where the token goes after graduation.
Pump.fun figures come from its official fees page (marked as updated 2026-05-20). StonkFun figures come from its public API and launch page on 2026-09-19. Both can change — verify again before you decide.
Launch cost
Pump.fun's fees page lists coin creation at 0 SOL and a 0.015 SOL charge when a coin graduates.
StonkFun has no separate listing fee. Third-party walkthroughs report an onchain deployment cost near 0.012 SOL, and the API shows a migration fee of 0.
Fixed costs are small on both. What matters is the size of your own first buy and the fee on every trade afterwards.
Curve trading fees and creator share
This is the biggest difference, and it decides what a creator earns per trade.
- Pump.fun: 1.25% per trade on the curve — 0.30% to the creator and 0.95% to the protocol.
- StonkFun default tier: 1% per trade, roughly 0.5% each to creator and platform.
- StonkFun 2% tier: the creator keeps about three quarters, roughly 1.5% — and traders pay twice as much.
- On the same volume, a StonkFun default-tier creator earns more than Pump.fun's 0.30% on the curve, while traders pay a slightly lower total rate.
Quote assets
Pump.fun markets are mostly priced in SOL, with USDC-quoted coins also supported.
StonkFun listed 517 quote assets on 2026-09-19, including tokenized equities, private-company exposures, stablecoins and a long tail of custom tokens.
A non-SOL quote means the token's price also moves with the quote asset, and buyers go through one more conversion. For the simplest, most direct market, SOL is still the default.
Transfer fees
Coins launched on Pump.fun carry no transfer fee.
StonkFun's reward mode adds a 1% or 3% transfer fee; withheld tokens are collected by a platform address and distributed to holders. Standard mode carries no transfer fee.
A transfer fee applies to every transfer, not only trades: batch transfers, airdrops and consolidation all deliver less. For an existing StonkFun token, confirm the rate first with MintPier's token check.
Graduation and fees afterwards
Both curves graduate at roughly an 85 SOL-equivalent raise.
- Pump.fun: migrates to PumpSwap. Total fees then step down by market cap from 1.25% to 0.30%, and the creator part falls from 0.30% to 0.05%.
- StonkFun: migrates to a Raydium CPMM pool with liquidity locked permanently. The 1% or 2% tier chosen at launch carries over and the creator keeps earning through the locked position.
- In short, a Pump.fun creator's share thins out as market cap grows, while a StonkFun creator's share stays the same after graduation.
How to choose
For the largest ready audience and the simplest SOL market, Pump.fun remains the default — it has held most of the Solana launchpad share for a long time.
For a stock or other asset as the quote, a higher creator share, or holder rewards through a transfer fee, StonkFun offers options Pump.fun does not — on a newer platform with more moving parts.
Either way, verify the onchain facts after launch before you publish the contract address.
FAQ
Which platform is cheaper to launch on?
Fixed costs are low on both: Pump.fun creation is 0 SOL with 0.015 SOL at graduation; StonkFun deployment is reported near 0.012 SOL with a migration fee of 0. The real difference is the fee on every trade afterwards, not the launch step.
Which platform pays creators more?
By the fee tables, a StonkFun creator earns about 0.5% per trade on the default tier and about 1.5% on the 2% tier. Pump.fun pays 0.30% on the curve and steps down to 0.05% after graduation as market cap grows. Actual income depends on volume, and volume depends on whether anyone trades your token.
Can StonkFun tokens be traded elsewhere?
Yes. StonkFun markets are built on Raydium, and major swap aggregators already find a path for both curve-stage and graduated tokens. MintPier's multi-wallet trading can trade them as well.
Will these numbers change?
Yes. Pump.fun's fees page is marked as updated 2026-05-20 and the StonkFun data was read on 2026-09-19. Both platforms keep iterating, so check the official pages before deciding.
